At Fort Caroline Animal Clinic, we believe that the best way to ensure your pets live long, healthy and happy lives is through regular preventative care and skilled, timely medical intervention when they are injured or sick. We feel you deserve the best care. Our doctors, practice manager, client care coordinators and veterinary assistants have a common goal to provide your pet with the finest, veterinary care possible and to afford our clients’ prompt, professional, courteous service.
Our veterinary assistants and technicians are a great resource to the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic team. They offer assistance to the doctors, helping to care for hospitalized pets and assisting with the doctors’ needs throughout the busy day. They are here to educate and answer questions in regards to your pet’s health and well being. We also have our fantastic kennel attendants who do a wonderful job helping our staff throughout the day, along with caring for all of our patients and boarders.
Our client care coordinators are here to assist our clients in scheduling appointments, answering our phones and offering advice on pet food, treats, dental care and much more. They will be glad to help you in any way they can, whether in person or on the telephone. Our practice manager, Holly, has been with Fort Caroline Animal Clinic since 1991, and it is her desire to see that our clinic, doctors and staff exceed all of our clients’ expectations. Dr. Charles W. Athey, D.V.M.
Dr. Athey graduated from Auburn University Veterinary Medical School in 1976. He married Cynthia in 1971, and they have two children, Stephanie and Whitfield, and seven grandchildren. Dr. Athey has been practicing in Jacksonville since 1976 and became the owner of Fort Caroline Animal Clinic in 1983. Bailey, his beloved fourteen-year-old, chocolate Labrador retriever passed away in July 2013. Dr. Athey’s practice interests include dermatology and orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Denise Lincoln, D.V.M.
Dr. Denise Lincoln graduated from the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. She has been at Ft. Caroline Animal Clinic since 1981 and feels fortunate to have met so many wonderful people and their pets. She hopes to continue providing quality, compassionate care in the years to come. Currently, Dr. Lincoln and her husband Mike have a new puppy! She is a sweet and loving but incredibly rambunctious Labrador Retriever named Mazie. Dr. Lincoln’s other interests include backpacking, camping, canoeing and gardening.
Dr. Kathleen Ranalli, V.M.D.
We are delighted that Dr. Kathleen Ranalli joined the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic team in 2012. She graduated with a BA in neuroscience from John Hopkins University and from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She practiced for 5 years at Willingboro Veterinary Clinic (outside Philadelphia) until relocating with her family to Jacksonville. She and her husband, Nathan have three beautiful children.
Client Care Coordinator
Morgan joined the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic staff in October of 2015 and we love her sweet charm and happy smile! Morgan loves the veterinary field and has always seen herself having a future helping animals. She attends online college and will achieve her bachelors degree in business management in 2017. Morgan lives with her fiance and her 3 fur babies, a sweet hound named Lele and two kitties, Olive and Jameson. In her spare time Morgan likes to read and go to the beach.
Client Care Coordinator
Kay has been a part of the FCAC family for over 30 years. She only works a few hours a week now, but it is always a treat for clients and staff to get to see her smiling face. In her spare time, she is an avid reader. She continues to be very active, enjoying spending time with her family and the Italian Club.
Brian has been an awesome member of our team since August 2014. He started with no experience and quickly learned the ropes! When Brian isn’t at work caring for patients and clients, he enjoys playing guitar and keyboard and is a Denver Broncos fan. He lives with a Viszula named Jango and two cats, Big Kitty and Peanut.
James joined our team in June of 2016. He is an Army veteran where he was a squad leader and worked with Apache helicopters. James also lived in Germany for 6 years. James has worked in the animal industry for the past several years, mostly in non-profit and animal rescue, and has worked as a veterinary assistant/technician for 3 years. When James is away from work he enjoys spending time with his 3 year old daughter, two dogs and a cat. When he isn’t doting on his daughter, James enjoys painting, woodworking, reading and listening to Primus at a loud volume.
Dusty joined Fort Caroline Animal Clinic in October of 2015. She has been working in the animal field for 7 years. Dusty is currently a reservist in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnance-man, and previously served in active duty for 9 years. Dusty lives with her boyfriend and their wild pack of 3 cats, a crazy dog, and a sweet, talkative cockatiel.
Our newest addition to the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic family is Annette. Annette is new to the area, recently having moved here from North Carolina. She has 30 years of veterinary experience and loves helping keep your pets happy and healthy through preventative care. Outside of work, Annette likes gardening, motorcycles, boating, fishing, and other outdoor activities.
Animal Care Attendant
Rania has been a wonderful addition to our staff. She does a fantastic job helping our veterinary assistants take care of the animals, along with keeping our kennels looking good. In her spare time she enjoys reading, as well as writing and producing music. She is a very talented singer and is pursuing a career in the music industry.
Animal Care Attendant
Becca joined our team in January 2017 and is a welcome addition to our Animal Care Staff. Rebecca has her A.A, from FSCJ and is planning on pursuing her Veterinary Technician Certification. When Becca is not at the clinic she spends her time with her rat terrier, named Ranger. She also likes fencing and reading.
Client Services Administrator
Grace has been with FCAC since 2007, starting as an animal care attendant. She has a beautiful German Shepherd mix named Bailey. She enjoys reading (especially Harry Potter) and spending time with friends and coworkers. She loves being a part of the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic family. She is completing her Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in Political Science at University of North Florida.
Client Care Coordinator
Jessica joined the Fort Caroline Animal Clinic staff in April of 2014. She is a wonderful asset to our team with an extensive customer service background. She loves to spend time with her family which includes a 3yr old daughter. She has 2 American Bulldog mixes and a sweet little kitten that rules the roost. Outside of work she enjoys anything outdoors, especially camping!
Holly feels blessed to have been with Fort Caroline Animal Clinic since 1991. She loves interacting with our amazing clients and their pets and has developed close bonds with many of them over the years. She became practice manager in 2006 and loves being part of such a wonderful team. She enjoys reading and traveling to new places. Holly has three adorable dogs; Chloe, a Pitbull Mix 3-legged wonder dog, Lily, the Chihuahua boss of the house, and Marigold, the happiest (and goofiest) Chihuahua in the world. There is never a dull moment in her home!
Business Development Manager
Wendy joined Fort Caroline Animal Clinic in October of 2012. She has worked in the veterinary field for most of the past 20 years. She is currently pursuing a certification in Veterinary Practice Management, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree from University of North Florida in Cultural Anthropology. She enjoys spending time with her fiance Matthew, and their combined 5 children, 2 dogs, and three cats. They can frequently be found camping, hiking and canoeing.
